Of course….Kanthi was aware that Silibiris had returned to Pelihouse home from Ambarawa but she dared not contact him.
Yet, she was wondering why he had not even attempted look for her since his return.
...
She watched him walking by her house through the door gap but she noticed he did not even bother to slow down and look for her.
This was a new experience for her. She had broken many hearts before but she got over them before they got over her. How Silibiris got over her so quickly, she wondered.
Vije had well and truly claimed ownership of his cousin’s body and soul already.
The thrill of the chase was over.
It did not matter to him that Kanthi did truly not love him or the fact that he knew her heart was still with Silibiris. He had inherited his kingdom and his consort to do whatever his violent mind desired.
Kanthi had given up any thoughts of Silibiris returning to rescue her. Why would he? After all it is she who had turned her back on him. Albeit, for his own safety.
Before too long, His desires for Kanthi turned violent in keeping with his reputation in Kolonnawe and the surrounds. He beat her up over the slightest suspicion she may be talking to other men in his absence.
Kanthi and her mother were now powerless to stop him. The memory and the power of Pachcha Sira whom Kolonnawe Vije had succeeded had faded away.
Kanthi was aware Vije didn’t even bother hiding the fact that he went to other women in his kingdom regularly.
She dared not question him about his infidelity.
The girl known and adored as Pelihouse Kanthi became a shadow of her former self. She became increasingly depressed, despondent, and hopeless.
She no longer could bear the daily beatings from Vije. If he didn’t beat her up he would mentally torture her.
One morning, she just disappeared.
The news of Kanthi’s disappearance spread like wild fire in Kolonnawe Pelihouse area. Some even suspected Silibiris. Most suspected Vije had killed her and thrown her body into the ela.
All the talk ended when Kanthi’s mother finally discovered a note somehow floated out of the house and lodged on the edge of the open drain.. The hand writing on the soggy note was unmistakeably Kanthi’s.
Unfortunately, whatever the message she had written was not legible. All that could be deciphered was she wanted to get away from it all.
Did she kill her- self?
Speculations were rife amongst the Pelihouse inhabitants.
Silibiris felt a great deal of remorse. Why didn’t he not know she was unhappy? Why did he not contact her? Why did he not….why did he not…..why did he not…….
He had no answers.
He drank in silence. He grieved alone.
